10th July 2008 MTB Round 3 FSSAA Series 08 Dalby Forest

Just in case you have forgotten, where the race is, follow the directions below.
The weather has been booked so bring the sun cream and midge repellent !

Directions from the south-

follow either the A1M or use the M1 link road to get to the A1M take the A64 (York) follow the A64 until you get to the A169 just after Malton, turn left onto the A169 (Pickering) and after about 2 or 3 miles look for a right turn on to Thornton Lane( signed Thornton Dale or Thornton-le-dale) its a small road which will take you up to the Junction with the A170 and go across the A170 (Whitby Gate) for 3 miles or so until you come a right turn on to Dalby forest drive which is signposted.

If you miss that turn go straight up to Pickering turn right on the A170 for a couple of mile then at Thornton - le dale , turn left onto Whitby Gate right in the centre of Thornton le dale and follow the directions above. When you get to Dalby Village turn right (look for the signs!) and in the village turn right again and follow the road.

If you over shoot and get to the toilet block/parking area turn round and come back a couple of hundred yards and turn left down towards the village as you have missed the turn!!

From the North -

follow the A19 turn left onto the A170 at Thirsk continue until you get Just past Pickering turn left in the centre of Thornton le Dale onto the Whitby Gate and follow directions as above...

I am sure the Dave and Graham will have put out some more signs Fire MTB or something similar to help you on your way if you get stuck or running late give me a call on 07788 585252 although I cannot guarantee a signal in the forest but you will soon find out!!!

28/01/08 Happy New year? I know its a bit late, but things are starting to pick up, with events rolling into the calendar, now's the time to be planning your leave. There's been a lot of chat about the cycle to work scheme offered by the Government, I think we should all Badger our Services to take up this offer while it lasts. There's a lot of advice available for this on the Forum, so have a look for yourselves.
Jeff Crawford's been busy as usual and has come up with the following offer for the Fire service which is available through the cycle to work scheme. This type of bike may not be suitable to all of you but it can't harm to look!...
See DISCOUNTS page for full details.
